Microsoft Teams support now available for Surface Hub
According to the Surface Hub Update History, the August 2018 cumulative update brings support for Microsoft Teams meetings on Surface Hub. I should note that I haven't yet tried this on a release build, so I don't know yet if the instructions for the Insider Preview build are the same, or if this even works fully (as there are no instructions yet in the admin guide). For those wanting to try, you will need to install the Microsoft Teams for Surface Hub (Preview) app from the Microsoft Store, and you'll also need to configure 2 SurfaceHub CSP settings (either via MDM or provisioning package): ./Vendor/MSFT/SurfaceHub/Properties/SurfaceHubMeetingMode Set to integer, values below: 0 - Skype for Business is the preferred app on the Surface Hub's Start Screen, however you can still join Microsoft Teams meetings. 1 - Microsoft Teams is the preferred app on the Surface Hub's Start Screen, however you can still join Skype for Business meetings. 2 - Microsoft Teams is the exclusive app on the Surface Hub's Start screen and Skype for Business is disabled ./Vendor/MSFT/SurfaceHub/Properties/VtcAppPackageId Set to string. Value must be Microsoft.MicrosoftTeamsforSurfaceHub_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Team yoabar has made an excellent blog post showing all the steps here. I thoroughly recommend reading through this before deploying Teams. If anyone gives this a go, let us know below how you get on! DSolved18KViews0likes38CommentsNew Microsoft Whiteboard App
For those who may not have seen, there is a new version of Microsoft Whiteboard currently available in preview. It was released a couple of days ago into the Microsoft Store. It's available for Surface Hub, but more importantly, also Windows 10 devices! We've been testing it for a couple of days and, suffice to say, it's FREAKING AWESOME! Our favourite things so far: Co-authoring between any device Whiteboard collections in one place, so no need to save different boards to OneDrive Nice new gestures when using pen actions, like the eraser dynamically resizing depending on how fast you erase Gridlines while resizing Sticky notes and stacks are pretty cool Did I mention co-authoring between any device? You do need an Office 365 account to use it, and you'll need to turn it on in your tenant (from the Admin settings) to use it. But **bleep**... this is so so good! Our users are actually excited about getting their hands on this... never quite seen hype for a work product before, but it's there this time!Solved14KViews4likes35CommentsSurface Hub Creators Edition - error retrieving scheduled meetings
I just installed Creators Edition. When I sign in with my credentials I'm getting a message "There was an error retrieving your scheduled meetings.". I can see my recent files, and the Surface Hub is able to get the resource calendar meetings. Is anyone else seeing this issue?9.6KViews1like34CommentsWhiteboard App Ink Beautification
I can't find the ink beautification button for the Whiteboard App on Windows 10, I am not using the app on a surface device, so it may not be in the right section, but I'm hoping somebody can tell me why it's not working or how to get it working.36KViews3likes33CommentsSurface Hub 2 - Problem with Microsoft Teams
Hi We have been the surface hub 2 with Microsoft Teams for 2 months and it can't load the MS Teams suddenly in the afternoon. Thought there is files corruption after using it a day ago. Therefore, had done the factory reset and still unable to resolves the issues. Unable to find much resources online pertaining to this problem. The MS teams screen just show as blank black screen (sames for after click join the meeting, or launched the apps manually). By the way we are using local AD and sync with Azure AD. Any suggestion on how to resolve this as we are going to used in Tuesday. Thanks.42KViews3likes31CommentsAll our Surface Hubs stopped communicating with Azure Log Analytics
Hello, All our Surface Hubs have stopped communicating with the Log Analytics workspace and we don't find why. We have Surface Hubs, Surface Hubs 2S, same problem. All are configured through Intune, It has worked for months but suddenly in november (I know it is already a long time ago), the same day, all the SH stopped sending data to the workspace. We have a graphic showing this : Since then we can't find the reason for this. No configuration change have been done. I have installed a machine, a simple windows 10, installed the monitoring agent and configured it with this workspace and it works ! Whatever 'regular' windows 10 I try to connect to the workspace it works but none of the Surface Hub. We have tried to connect a Surface Hub with a 4G connection, just to see if it could be a problem with our network but it doesn't work either. In intune I can see that the SH are well communicating, I can reboot them, sync them etc... The big problem is that with the covid situation we are all working remotely and with a Surface Hub, you can't do anything remotely (you cannot access the logs, take a remote control session...). The devices are a nightmare to manage remotely. Anyone have an idea what I can do or where I can look to find a solution ? Thanks for your help Marc8.5KViews0likes29CommentsMultiple authentification required to open Office document from OneDrive.
Hi everyone, I need to know if everyone is having the same behavior than us when opening Office documents. We are using the Surface Hub for meetings and we need to access some documents. We do not have Windows 10 available for now and some of our management team do not want to use cables to connect their computer to the Surface Hub as we are piloting them for a wireless use. we have deployed the OneDrive app with the goal of having people using the OneDrive as a repository for their documents. What happen is that the user presenting need to authenticate itself on the OneDrive app (email only), then I hit my ADFS and authenticate again (email and password) then, when opening a document in Word, I have to authenticate again (email only) then I hit my ADFS again (email and password). Now I open a document in Excel, I have to authenticate (email only), then I hit my ADFS (email and password). Then the same thing with Powerpoint. Is it a normal behavior? Is it something we can change? Is there any planning to provide a way to enter credential once? I am aware of the diffcultie to manage different users interacting with the hub at once, and I am selling that idea but I have to ask anyway to provide answers to my boss :) Thank you all!4.2KViews1like25CommentsSurface Hub Infinite Loop
As of this morning all of our Surface Hubs that were on Fast Ring are entering an infinite loop starting with "Getting ready for the next session" which happens for about 30 seconds and then it reboots. Since we can't get into Start or Settings how can we roll back these updates?15KViews0likes25CommentsSurface Laptop 2 Keyboard Issues (Hid Mini Driver)
Upon imaging a Surface Laptop 2 with our basic image from the older Surface laptop model the Surface Hid Mini Driver driver fails to power and thus the keyboard doesn't work. if I revert back to 03/27/2017 driver it works fine... but then the laptop automatically updates itself to the latest version that brakes again. I have blocked the update in WSUS. Is anybody aware of a fix for the latest driver? Does the PC somehow think its a Surface Laptop 1st gen and somehow downloading the incorrect driver possibly? I also downloaded the latest firmware/driver package from MS and tried that version and it also doesn't work. Seems to be the same exact version that gets downloaded from Windows Update.Solved70KViews0likes24CommentsWhiteboard App not starting on Surface Hub
Today (30.07.) we noticed that the Whiteboard App on our Surface Hubs stopped working. When the app is launched a window is displayed that login is in progress, but nothing happens. Anybody experiencing something similar or any suggestion on troubleshooting? I've already reinstalled the app.Solved12KViews0likes24CommentsOneNote Online not working in Edge on Surface Hub
I'm not sure if it has been happening longer than the last couple of days, but we've noticed yesterday and this morning on both of our Surface Hubs that when you go to Office.com and pull up any OneNote whether in a person's OneDrive or a SharePoint site that the OneNote doesn't open properly and doesn't load the pages. The menu bar is blow the pages and sections and nothing shows and so are others having issues and is there a solution? Or do I reach out to O365 Support of Surface Hub support? Wish there was a OneNote App for Surface Hub. Below is an image of what we get.8.2KViews0likes23CommentsMigrated Surface Hub 2S to MTRoW - 3 things I don’t like
Hello! I recently migrated our 85” Surface Hub 2S from Windows 10 Team OS to MTRoW Experience. The process was simple and relatively quick. After getting everything dialed in, here is what I wish the new OS still retained: 1. No more apps. Specifically no browser. Previously, staff would launch Edge and display reports from the various software we subscribe to. Now, I know what most are thinking - why don’t you just cast to the device to achieve the same outcome? 2. Miracast no longer supported - no longer can users Windows + K and share the contents of their device. One workaround I found is to switch user and sign in as admin > launch screen share > alt tab back to Teams Room app. But this isn’t permanent and staff expect to just Windows + K like they have been on Windows 10 Team OS. 3. Casting from Teams - I do have the option to cast from the Teams app on my laptop to the Surface Hub. But this experience is abysmal. Content shared this way has been very choppy and delayed. This method holds true on the Surface Hub, a separate MTRoW device, and our MTRoA device.5.1KViews2likes23CommentsSurface Hub 2S Overheating
Has anyone else out there come across the Hub 2S overheating? Basically the device will shut down mid use, then come up with a black screen with a thermometer icon. Eventually it will come back up normally but it's been disruptive to meetings. These are all the 55" 2S model using the "Microsoft Approved" Steelcase Roam wall mount. To me this seems like a design flaw with the mount itself. I know the Hubs have an airflow intake/output on the top and bottom of the back CPU component, but this mount essentially puts the device flush against the wall and any heat that radiates off the back essentially just redirects back to itself. Mainly curious if anyone else has come across this and what they might've done to remedy it.9.3KViews1like23CommentsTouchback not working with USB-C display (Surface Hub 2S)
We just got two Surface Hub 2S at work, but I've been unable to make touch-back work on a single USB-C cable. In theory, it's supposed to deliver power, 4K display, and touch-back (pen included) through a single USB-C 3.1 Gen-2 cable, and yet so far I've tried: Two different and brand new USB-C cables (relatively premium, 3.1 Gen 2 spec) Two different devices (Surface Pro 7 on USB-C, and Lenovo t490s on both USB-C and Thunderbolt3 ports) And yet, I'm always getting Power + 4K@60Hz display, but no touchback (nor pen). If I connect through Miracast and plug the USB-C I can get both display and touch-back, but resolution is dismal and Miracast lag makes it hard to enjoy the "touch-pen" experience. Is there anything I'm missing? Any idea or advice? Thanks in advance, Daniel PS: Both computers detect a "Guest Touchback Board" input device, which shows in Device Settings, and both of them recognize the Surface Hub 2s as some kind of Touch panel with "limited functionality"7.1KViews1like22CommentsCan't load PDF via OneDrive - Hangs on 'Downloading...'
Hey, having some trouble loading PDF's in the latest version of OneDrive (17.25) for the Surface Hub - just hangs with the spinning dot circle reading 'Downloading...', and am not prompted to open in any application (we use Drawboard, however not even Edge loads to preview). Anybody else encountering the same issue? Tried escalating it with Microsoft and not having much luck. Have put the device on both the fast and slow ring of Windows Insiders with similarly no luck. If we copy the PDF onto a USB it loads fine - seems to be confined to OneDrive. We are now running the latest CU (2017-09) yet the issue persists.Solved8.4KViews1like22CommentsSurface Hub 2 - Your device needs an update. Restarting to finish it up...
Has anyone seen this issue when a user clicks end session, it then prepares for the next session then a screen comes up "Your device needs an update. Restarting to finish it up..." then it reboots. It does this every single time someone clicks end session. There are no updates to be done so not sure what's going on. Shaun9KViews1like21CommentsWhiteboard app - storage and sharing
What is up with the Whiteboard app, why is it not storing the whiteboards in OneDrive or SharePoint so it is automatically stored in the region where the whole Office 365 tenant is hosted and can leverage the same access controls? Also having anonymous access to Whiteboards only is a big security gap if you ask me. I would like to share whiteboards with my colleagues only, not with the whole world...Solved59KViews0likes20CommentsUnable to launch the Surface DUO Emulator with Visual Studio

We have had Surface Hubs since they were first on the market and love them! We have been pushing back on requests to put any external mics or cameras on them, for multiple reasons, but we still have some people who insist on it. Has anyone had good succss putting any external mics (ex: Biamp) on their Surface Hub and having it work (We had a mute sync issue with a Biamp we origionally put on a demo unit) as well as improve the audio quality?
