Windows 11 Surface Pro 5
Hello, I'm Shawn, a proud Surface Pro 5 user who wishes to get Windows 11 officially, it has outperformed Windows 10 during betas and the official version is great. but that had to be done through the registry. I would like to ask that the surface team please ask the windows team or get this sorted out so I can windows 11 offfically. Thank you 🙂 Shawn PS: Cross posted from Windows 11 thread86KViews6likes12CommentsSurface Laptop 2 Keyboard Issues (Hid Mini Driver)
Upon imaging a Surface Laptop 2 with our basic image from the older Surface laptop model the Surface Hid Mini Driver driver fails to power and thus the keyboard doesn't work. if I revert back to 03/27/2017 driver it works fine... but then the laptop automatically updates itself to the latest version that brakes again. I have blocked the update in WSUS. Is anybody aware of a fix for the latest driver? Does the PC somehow think its a Surface Laptop 1st gen and somehow downloading the incorrect driver possibly? I also downloaded the latest firmware/driver package from MS and tried that version and it also doesn't work. Seems to be the same exact version that gets downloaded from Windows Update.Solved69KViews0likes24CommentsWhiteboard app - storage and sharing
What is up with the Whiteboard app, why is it not storing the whiteboards in OneDrive or SharePoint so it is automatically stored in the region where the whole Office 365 tenant is hosted and can leverage the same access controls? Also having anonymous access to Whiteboards only is a big security gap if you ask me. I would like to share whiteboards with my colleagues only, not with the whole world...Solved59KViews0likes20CommentsSurface Hub 2 - Problem with Microsoft Teams
Hi We have been the surface hub 2 with Microsoft Teams for 2 months and it can't load the MS Teams suddenly in the afternoon. Thought there is files corruption after using it a day ago. Therefore, had done the factory reset and still unable to resolves the issues. Unable to find much resources online pertaining to this problem. The MS teams screen just show as blank black screen (sames for after click join the meeting, or launched the apps manually). By the way we are using local AD and sync with Azure AD. Any suggestion on how to resolve this as we are going to used in Tuesday. Thanks.42KViews3likes31CommentsSurface Pro Screen flicker issue.
A little over two years ago I bought my first Surface Pro, and after about a year of usage, I started noticing this screen flicker problem. It's widely reported with thousands of threads and reports of screens flickering on surface pro products. Most reports mention heat as a factor and cooling it down can sometimes reduce the flicker. Here is a link to a 2000 post long thread just about this issue. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro4-surfdrivers/surface-pro-4-screen-flickering-shacking/570165cb-50a0-4d71-bcb1-310ddd869d1d?rtAction=1517820905738 I just got my 2nd replacement device last month. And noticed flicker again only 1 month after I got the new one. This time there is no idle flicker.... for now at least. And it only flickers when the device get hot. When gaming or doing some other heavy task. Luckily I've always been under warranty when this problem occurred so I've been getting my device replaced a few times now, but it's getting a bit tedious. My first one (my original purchase) got flickering after about a year. Idle flicker when nothing was moving. My second (replacement device) got flickering about 8 months after I got it. Idle flicker and constant flicker under heavy load. My third (the latest one) got flickering while gaming after just 1 month. So far only under heavy load. I'm starting to think that ALL Surface devices are defective. Some people just don't get the problem because their device never really get hot enough to cause any damage. It seems that Surface Pro's can't handle heat very well at all, and is not suitable for any heavy tasks, gaming, or anything else that might cause it to get hot. Since some people are reporting it even on new models like Surface Pro 2017 it seems they have not fixed the issue. And probably won't be fixed any time soon, as this is probably an engineering or design flaw, that causes some chip to be unstable and damaged due to heat. It seems the only fix is to downclock your surface device to keep it from not getting hot enough to cause the damage in the first place, and don't use it for any heavy tasks. Some people that don't use the device for any heavy tasks still report this issue so it's not the CPU/GPU getting too hot, but rather this little part here. Even on an idle machine with low CPU temps touching the lower part of the screen with the back of your hand this area is the hottest part. And is probably housing the chips that get unstable due to heat. Replacing the LCD will fix the flicker issue, so It seems like chips related to the LCD will get damaged over time. Weather it be from the heat produced by the device itself or external heat, as there is no active or passive cooling for any of the chips related to the LCD screen. If there's any engineers on this forum, place fix this issue in future devices. It's a great device and the CPU/GPU will get cool enough even under heavy load, but the LCD must chips have been overlooked.38KViews1like10CommentsWhiteboard App Ink Beautification
I can't find the ink beautification button for the Whiteboard App on Windows 10, I am not using the app on a surface device, so it may not be in the right section, but I'm hoping somebody can tell me why it's not working or how to get it working.36KViews3likes33Commentsjoining a web based Zoom meeting from Surface Hub
Has anyone attempted to join a web based Zoom meeting from Edge on Surface Hub? I know the plugin doesn't work, I'm referring specifically to joining with the browser only version. I can get to the page, but the audio connection times out. I'm wondering if it's a network issue on my end or if it just doesn't work.33KViews0likes13CommentsSurface Hub External Mic
We have had Surface Hubs since they were first on the market and love them! We have been pushing back on requests to put any external mics or cameras on them, for multiple reasons, but we still have some people who insist on it. Has anyone had good succss putting any external mics (ex: Biamp) on their Surface Hub and having it work (We had a mute sync issue with a Biamp we origionally put on a demo unit) as well as improve the audio quality? Going through the steps provided to migrate Surface Hub 2s to Windows 10 Pro at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/surface-hub/surface-hub-2s-migrate-os#prepare-the-semm-certificate Getting hung up with Surface UEFI Configurator doing absolutely nothing after clicking BUILD. USB drive selected is not formatted as the tool says, and no DFI files are created on the USB stick either. Rebooted, tried many times with the same result - nothing happens. No DFI files found on the entire system either. I've had no problems using the SurfaceDeploymentAccelerator - https://github.com/microsoft/SurfaceDeploymentAccelerator/blob/master/README.md to create images, but assuming I NEED to have the UEFI & SEMM stuff figured out in order to use the Windows 10 Pro image created with SDA. Any help?23KViews0likes5CommentsZoom.us on the Surface Hub
What are you guys doing to use Zoom on the Surface Hub? Joining from the browser works after installing the new Edge but: sharing the surface hub screen is not available on the browser app every time Edge asks permission to use the camera every time you need to wait for it to fail launching the desktop app until the "Join from the browser" link appears And how do you communicate the join link to the surface hub users? For ad-hoc meetings, the fastest way one of our users figured out to launch a zoom meeting is to create a meeting on his computer, copy the join link, create a mural from his computer, paste the join link in the mural, open the mural on the surface hub, and tap on the link to open Edge. This is insane Using the Skype for Business - Zoom integration (link) has other downsides: screen sharing takes 30 seconds to start, and sharing the surface hub screen doesn't work well (it doesn't update most of the times) the surface hub user needs to type the 11 digits meeting ID followed by @lync.zoom.us and then the 6 digits zoom password20KViews0likes1CommentMicrosoft Teams support now available for Surface Hub
According to the Surface Hub Update History, the August 2018 cumulative update brings support for Microsoft Teams meetings on Surface Hub. I should note that I haven't yet tried this on a release build, so I don't know yet if the instructions for the Insider Preview build are the same, or if this even works fully (as there are no instructions yet in the admin guide). For those wanting to try, you will need to install the Microsoft Teams for Surface Hub (Preview) app from the Microsoft Store, and you'll also need to configure 2 SurfaceHub CSP settings (either via MDM or provisioning package): ./Vendor/MSFT/SurfaceHub/Properties/SurfaceHubMeetingMode Set to integer, values below: 0 - Skype for Business is the preferred app on the Surface Hub's Start Screen, however you can still join Microsoft Teams meetings. 1 - Microsoft Teams is the preferred app on the Surface Hub's Start Screen, however you can still join Skype for Business meetings. 2 - Microsoft Teams is the exclusive app on the Surface Hub's Start screen and Skype for Business is disabled ./Vendor/MSFT/SurfaceHub/Properties/VtcAppPackageId Set to string. Value must be Microsoft.MicrosoftTeamsforSurfaceHub_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Team yoabar has made an excellent blog post showing all the steps here. I thoroughly recommend reading through this before deploying Teams. If anyone gives this a go, let us know below how you get on! DSolved18KViews0likes38CommentsResetting Surface Hub 2S
We have lost the local admin password for our Hub 2S. The best solution seems to be resetting from a USB stick, but the Hub won't open from it. I press and hold the 'volume down' button (as instructed), but the device doesn't seem to notice and boots as normal. Except that it reports two 'PXE' errors along the way. But we don't use PXE. Any ideas how to get it to notice that I'm pressing the volume key? Or how to reset the admin password another way? Many thanks.17KViews0likes3CommentsCannot login to Surface Hub
We have on-prem a Surface Hub configured which was working perfeclty up to a few days ago. For some reason, it cannot login anymore to the calendar and mail account associated with it. When trying to go to settings to vaerify connectivity, and after introducing the admin login (which is correct, as it is the same login I use to log on to the domain), it gives the message: "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for the workstation trust reltionship". I chjecked on the Domain Contreoller, and there were no changes on the account, besides the password reset automatically done by the device. Can anyone help? Thanks.Solved17KViews0likes8CommentsSurface Hub 2 // Teams Mode 2 not working
We have quite a few brand new Surface Hub 2S’es that refuse to accept our Mode 2 settings (show Teams tile on the Start Menu – its currently showing Skype for Business). We have followed the official guidelines found here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-surface-hub#make-teams-the-default-calling-and-meetings-application Following Option 2 (Intune approach) we have created a Custom Device Configuration Policy and assigned it to the Surface Hub 2 accounts. The settings are as follows: and Below, we see that the Device Configuration Policy has been successfully applied to the Surface Hub 2S device, however, we still only see the “Skype for Business” tile on the start menu – even after a restart!! We have also tried to Option 1 using the Provisioning Profile using a USB stick, but it fails to be applied as show in the Settings panel after selecting it from the USB stick. We have used the Microsoft provided config file for Mode 2 found on the OneDrive link. Any suggestions as to what can be wrong with our approach as we are eager to get our many Surface Hub 2S’es deployed in our organisation?16KViews0likes10CommentsSurface Hub 2s Microsoft Teams Error code caa 90014

For those who may not have seen, there is a new version of Microsoft Whiteboard currently available in preview. It was released a couple of days ago into the Microsoft Store. It's available for Surface Hub, but more importantly, also Windows 10 devices! We've been testing it for a couple of days and, suffice to say, it's FREAKING AWESOME! Our favourite things so far: Co-authoring between any device Whiteboard collections in one place, so no need to save different boards to OneDrive Nice new gestures when using pen actions, like the eraser dynamically resizing depending on how fast you erase Gridlines while resizing Sticky notes and stacks are pretty cool Did I mention co-authoring between any device? You do need an Office 365 account to use it, and you'll need to turn it on in your tenant (from the Admin settings) to use it. But **bleep**... this is so so good! Our users are actually excited about getting their hands on this... never quite seen hype for a work product before, but it's there this time!Solved14KViews4likes35CommentsSurface Hub - Azure AD automated enrollment
