Microsoft's Copilot: A Frustrating Flop in AI-Powered Productivity
Microsoft's Copilot was supposed to be the game-changer in productivity, but it's quickly proving to be a massive disappointment. The idea was simple: integrate AI directly into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office tools to make our lives easier. But when it comes to actually performing specific functions, Copilot falls flat. Here’s the problem: when you ask Copilot to alter a document, modify an Excel file, or adjust a PowerPoint presentation, it’s practically useless. Instead of performing the tasks as requested, it often leaves you hanging with vague suggestions or instructions. Users don't want to be told how to perform a task—they want it done. This is what an AI assistant should do: execute commands efficiently, not just offer advice. What makes this even more frustrating is that other AI tools, like ChatGPT, can handle these tasks effortlessly. When you ask ChatGPT to perform a specific function, it does so without hesitation. It’s able to understand the request and deliver exactly what’s needed. But Copilot? It struggles with the basics, and that’s unacceptable, especially from a company like Microsoft. It’s frankly embarrassing that Microsoft can’t get this right. The whole point of integrating AI into these tools was to streamline workflows and boost productivity. But if Copilot can’t even manage simple tasks like formatting a document or adjusting a spreadsheet, then what’s the point? Users don’t need another tool that tells them how to do something—they need one that does it for them. Microsoft, you’ve missed the mark with Copilot. It's not just a minor inconvenience; it's a serious flaw that undermines the value of your Office suite. When other AI tools can easily accomplish what Copilot can't, it's time to reevaluate. Users expect more, and frankly, they deserve more for their investment. What’s been your experience with Copilot? Is anyone else finding it as frustrating as I am? Let’s talk about it.14KViews21likes28CommentsHow to Enhance Copilot Usage Data
Copilot usage data can be pretty sparse, but it’s easy to enhance the data to gain extra insight into how Microsoft 365 Copilot is used within a tenant. In this case, an administrator wanted to have department and job title information available for each Copilot license holder, so we combined the Copilot usage data with details of Entra ID user accounts with Copilot licenses to create the desired report. https://office365itpros.com/2025/05/09/copilot-usage-data-accounts/Welcome to the Microsoft 365 Copilot community!

Hi experts, I have developed a Copilot Agent to assist to search the documents in the SharePoint document libraries. In that case I have registered the App in Azure and set the API Permission as follows. Microsoft Graph -> Application Permission 1.1. Sites.FullControl.All 1.2. Files.Read.All 1.3. Sites.Read.All 1.4. User.Read.All 2. SharePoint -> Application Permission 2.1. Sites.FullControl.All 2.2. Sites.Read.All 2.3. User.Read.All 3. Created Client Secret 4. I did the following settings in Copilot Studio under Authentication. 4.1. I have selected "Authenticate manually" and turn "Require users to sign in" off. 4.2. Then, gave the Client ID and Client secret. 4.3. Set the "profile openid Sites.Read.All Files.Read.All" under Scopes and Save. 4.4. After all the configurations are done, I get the embed code and insert it into SharePoint page. My objective is to give the better user experience to the internal users, and I do not need to use this "Sign in" option. Even I set all above settings, it is asking me to "Sign in". How can I avoid this matter? I really appreciate it if someone can help me out on this regard. Thanks in advance, Wiki.Export Search results from Copilot into Excel
Hello, I'm looking to automatically export my search results from Copilot into Excel. I have number of description of Part No, but it does not describes what exactly this description means. For Example, when I search TRAFO9155-15 440/400V DYN11 MAR MUNSELL in Copilot, it gives most of the information. Later I manually copy this information into my excel for the above said description. I have multiple Part description, so is there a automated process to automatically copy the search results into Excel/Word Please advise. Thanks! Below is the screen shot of the search I have done in Teams Copilot.27Views0likes1CommentMicrosoft copilot stops while giving a response.
Why is this happening? Is there a solution for this? It just stops while giving response. And it has happened several times. And you can't even give prompt to continue from there. You should restart it. Does anyone have a solution for this? and I have restarted and reinstalled it 1000 times.5.4KViews1like12CommentsHow to join Frontier early access?
In the Introducing Researcher and Analyst in Microsoft 365 Copilot article, it states: Researcher and Analyst will start rolling out to customers with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license in April as part of a new “Frontier” program that gives customers early access to new Copilot innovations while they’re still in development. Hello, I am getting a popup every 20 seconds or so while using copilot365 which is identical to the popup in this edge help thread; https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/pop-up-in-browser-potentially-caused-by-copilot/21345cf9-6904-4eaf-a7c0-0538724b2eaa I am also having copilot tell me my organisation has turned off web search when I simply have not. Hi, I have a Microsoft Copilot Pro subscription, the payment is made on the first of each month and I download the invoice in the account, but this month of May I still do not see the button to generate the invoice. How long does it take to be available? How can I get the invoice?13Views0likes0CommentsM365 Copilot Pro vs Copilot Pro
Hi, my name is Mark Salden, and I am a freelance graphic designer, social media marketer, and web designer from Belgium. I currently have an Office 365 Business Standard subscription and would like to purchase Microsoft 365 Copilot. Just to be clear: the regular Copilot Pro is only for individuals and not for businesses, correct? It’s a bit confusing, and I want to be 100% sure. I want to integrate Microsoft 365 Copilot into Word, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, etc. With Copilot, can I automatically create notes and summaries during online meetings in Teams? Also, can I use Copilot in Microsoft Loop? That part is not clear to me. I am also very interested in Copilot Studio because I want to create AI agents that help me with SEO, content creation, image generation, and more. Are there any limits on building AI agents, and can I create workflows and automate processes there as well? I hope someone can assist me. Thanks in advance!CoPilot not loading in Teams, available in every other app!
I paid for an upgrade to get CoPilot with my business account, upgrading my M365 subscription. CoPilot shows up in every single application EXCEPT Teams, which is the app I wanted it for! I've used it successfully elsewhere, and really needed some assistance with a client who is very meeting heavy, and was desperate for something to ease the lift. To say that I am more than a little annoyed is an understatement. I have CoPilot in every other app except teams - it doesn't show on the App or online, and I've double checked all my admin settings, making sure everything is set correctly, but it doesn't even show up as an option. I've updated or attempted updates to my license almost daily. It's been over two weeks at this point, and I'm not a happy camper that the one app I really needed it in is the one Microsoft is withholding for no reason that I can fathom. Anyone ever found a solution besides Microsoft finally deciding to give you what you were paying for at some unknown, random point in time?20KViews0likes8CommentsQuick fixes to boost your Copilot responses
Did Copilot disappoint you recently? Who has never complained about Copilot responses? Myself included. You know that moment when you try to get a good Copilot response, and all you get is vague one? Yep. Been there. It’s Not You, It's not Copilot either, It's Your Prompt People tend to treat Copilot like a search engine, but Copilot isn’t a search engine. I know it feels like it should be—type in your query, get a polished answer. Here's the deal: Copilot (and all other LLMs) work with recognizing patterns and context based on your prompts. Copilot does not retrieve information, but generates answers. Copilot relies on the context and specificity of your prompts to generate useful responses. That means vague, lazy prompts are setting it up to give vague responses. If you want great output, you need great input. So let’s talk about how to give Copilot the kind of prompt it can actually work with. 10 Quick Fixes to Boost Your Copilot Responses Write clear prompts: ❌ “Make it better” → ✅ “Summarize in 3 points” Be specific: ❌ “Write an email” → ✅ “Draft a friendly reminder email for project deadline” Be direct: ❌ “Could you try to…” → ✅ “Generate a bulleted list of main takeaways” Give context: ❌ “Draft an email” → ✅ “Draft a response to the client email /<youremail> to apologyse for the delivery delays” Divide to conquer: ❌ “Write a report” → ✅ “Outline the report in sections: intro, analysis, and conclusion” Choose wisely: ❌ Copilot is not equal Copilot. → ✅ Understand the differences between M365 Copilot Chat and M365 Copilot and learn when to use what. I wrote a post about this topic already, here you can find it: Copilot Chats vsus. M365 Copilot: What's the difference? Try rephrasing: ❌ “Try again” → ✅ “Rephrase the sentence” Sometimes, a small word change makes a big difference. Iterate: Unhappy? ✅ If your plan A did not work, go for plan B. You can start a new chat, adjust your initial prompt, and try again! Include web content when relevant: ✅ Enrich your Copilot responses with web content. Toggle on web content like this: Click on the 3 elipses on the top, right corner of Copilot chat in Work mode. Give it another shot! ✅ LLMs are evolving quickly. What it did not work last month, it may work today! Want Copilot to stop disappointing you? Prompt like you mean it. 💡 Got your own favorite Copilot trick? I'm building a simple custom Copilot in Copilot Studio to retrieve weather information from weather.com/weather.gov. I noticed the answers regarding weather data were not accurate. I finally typed the prompt "What is today's date?" and the Copilot responded with October 10, 2023. Today is September 24, 2024. I have no idea where this date came from. I created a new blank Copilot and the same thing is happening. Has anyone else experienced this?745Views1like4CommentsQuestions about the Facilitator and Copilot dashboards
We currently have 24 people using MS Copilot in our company. 1. Do we need to have more than 25 people using copilot to create a column on the left bar of viva insight called 'Copilot Dashboard' as shown below? 2. Is the facilitator in TEAMS currently not available outside of the US? I tried as shown in the link below, but facilitator was not activated in TEAMS.
