How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Windows 11 ?
Hi @all
I did not find this function 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. How can this function be found and enabled in windows 11?
I can't work with multi-tab on windows 11.
Thank you!

It's 2024 and now the Group taskbar icons = Never is enabled but if you exceed the width of your taskbar, instead of having the down arrow to access the next row, Windows 11 hides EVERYTHING including the app icons that you've pinned to your taskbar until you click on the three dots that are left.
In effect, this is a way to force people to group their icons so they can more easily access their pinned icons.
If I set System>Display (click Scaling) then change Custom Scaling to 100% then I can see the dots that are my Taskbar icons, but find all the text labels unreadable, so I gave up (yes, I did play with other scaling percentages) and told Windows 11 to group my icons so I can more easily click on my calculators and my Windows Desktop Explorer icons.
I gave up, but if anyone has found a solution (other than rolling back to Windows 10, since Microsoft is ending support, even if you pay them $400) please let me know by posting it here.

Microsoft_SFDD I have never had my taskbar that full, but I did try it and see what you mean. Not sure how MS could help you as once the taskbar is that full how can you see what anything is anyway except to hover on the icon.
It never happens to me because I have only 8 programs open and within those I use tabs within them. Tabs in windows explorer and Notepad being one of the really good things in Win 11 and WPS Office as do all browsers.
The only other option I see is to select combine taskbar icons when Taskbar is full.
To get what you want I would ask you to explain exactly what you want to happen when you have all these icons on the taskbar to give you what you want. The only change I could see is being able to increase the height of the taskbar as we used to be able to do and have more rows of icons.

hi
has there been any updates or fixing of this? My company also has done the win11 install updates and this missing function is very annoying and no any updates visible to get back. It si a shame to have the taskbar like this I don't understand the logic in it at all. Now we need to jump in and jump out in icons and impossible to work and see simultaneously the different screens.
- omersayliBrass ContributorHi, Have you installed 23h2 update, as explained in the above explanations, the option to "Never combine" is available now. (Taskbar settings --> Taskbar behaviors --> Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels" )

its on, update your windows
- DeletedWonderful! I guess the next feature people would wish to get is smaller taskbars as the big taskbar in Windows 11 with never combine can get crammed quick.,

Hi all, I was looking for an answer to this and found one, so thought I would share.
Yesterday, 26/09/2023, Microsoft posted about the new Windows updates and this issue is included.
New! This update adds “never combined” mode. In this mode, you can view application windows and their labels on the taskbar separately. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors.Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. Also, there is a separate setting for turning this on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors."
So we just need to wait to get the new update and we should all be good to go.

ITS ON!!
- shoesinquiryCopper ContributorTo enable "Never Combine taskbar buttons" in Windows 11, right-click on the taskbar and select "Taskbar settings" from the menu. In the Taskbar settings, scroll down to the "Combine taskbar buttons" section, and you'll see three options: "Always," "When the taskbar is full," and "Never." Choose "Never" to ensure that taskbar buttons for open windows are never combined, allowing each open application or window to have its own separate button on the taskbar. This setting can be particularly useful if you prefer a more distinct and organized taskbar layout.

I understand your concern. In Windows 11, the option to "Never Combine taskbar buttons" has been replaced with a new feature called "Taskbar Behaviors." To access it:
Right-click on the taskbar.
Select "Taskbar settings."
Scroll down to the "Taskbar behaviors" section.
From there, you can choose how taskbar buttons behave when multiple windows are open. You can select "Always, hide labels" or "Never, hide labels" depending on your preference for combining or separating taskbar buttons.- DeletedYes, that is correct though that is when the 23H2 update comes 🙂
- DeletedGood morning!!
Hope you are all having a great day!
Just checked on my Canary Build and there is a option to never combine!!
So hang tight, it should be rolling out in the 23H2 Update in the fall!!
Not really a fan of it but jut wanted to share with you all!
God bless

Yes, the next Beta version - fixes bugs, so I'm hopeful -> future deployment to the stable version of Windows 🙂
