I've tried so many times to reset the scale back to normal but it is literally stuck at 175%. I have tried setting it to 100% and 'turn off custom scaling' but nothing works. There is no button to actually reset it either. I'm out of options.. does anyone have any ideas that might work? Last image is how my web browser and any app I open looks like. Very difficult to use.348Views0likes8CommentsWin11 file explorer keeps resetting to the top at random moments
(If you see me trying to post multiple threads, its because the forum software keeps bugging out and refusing to post, this should be the correct version of the thread) Win version : Win11 23H2 Ever since i upgraded from win10 to win11, i have had this extremely annoying problem where win explorer will suddenly reset to the top of the folder. E.G. If i scroll halfway down, win explorer will suddenly reset to the top of the folder, as if i had scrolled all the way up. See : https://www.elevenforum.com/attachments/win-explorer-webp.135194/ for a screenshot. It does not manually scroll up by itself...its not like my mouse is broken and causing it to scroll up. It just instantly jumps all the way to the top. Its like something has reset the folder view. Importantly, this folder view reset happens even when i am not using win explorer, so it happens in the background, at random intervals. I cannot reproduce this consistently. It seems to mainly happen shortly after i resume from hibernation, and at random intervals throughout the day. It has nothing to do with icons and thumbnails as far as i can tell. The folder view reset happens in ALL explorer windows that i have open, at the same time, even if the folder is a bunch of files set to "details" view mode. When it triggers, no errors or anything are logged in event viewer->windows logs->system or application. There are no error popups or anything, the folder view just resets to the top silently in the background, even when i am not using explorer. I have tried a ton of things to fix it : Uninstalled OneDrive and purged the registry and policies of everything OneDrive related that i could find. I saw some posts saying that OneDrive was responsible because win explorer keeps trying to connect to OneDrive, but this has not fixed it for me. I am not using any network drives, cloud drives, or anything of that nature. Set explorer to "launch folder windows in a seperate process" Set "FolderType" to "NotSpecified" in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\AllFolders\Shell. This was meant to disable the feature where windows tries to automatically set the folder type Cleared the thumbnails cache Cleared the folder view cache in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\BagMRU and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags Disabled "allow files in this folder to have contents indexed" in properties Set NoSimpleNetIDList, NoRemoteChangeNotify and NoSimpleNetIDList to 1 in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer. I think this has prevented the folder view reset from occuring on logon, but it has not prevented it from occuring at random intervals throughout the day. Disabled "show recently used files", "show frequently used folders" and "show files from office.com" in view options Disabled everything under Options -> View -> Navigation Pane except for "Show this PC" Made sure i am not running any kind of network drive, cloud sync, etc, software or services. Unchecked "Automatically pick an accent color from my background option" in display personalization. Made sure slideshow was disabled for the windows screensaver Set explorer to default to "This PC" instead of "Home" Used ShellExView to see if i had any network or cloud sync stuff affecting the shell...nothing that i could see. Ran sfc /scannow and DISM, then rebooted Enabled group policies for user config -> admin templates -> windows components -> file explorer, "no computers near me in network locations", "remove map network drive and disconnect network drive", "turn off caching of thumbnail pictures", "turn off the caching of thumbnails in hidden thumbs.db files" and "turn off windows key hotkeys" Set NoActiveDesktopChanges in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer E Made sure focus assist was off Set NoNetCrawling, NoRemoteRecursiveEvents, NoRemoteRecursiveEventsEx, NoResolveTrack and NoPinnedSiteSync in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer Checked there was nothing process related in power options (this is a PC, there is no battery) Checked for any optional updates that might fix this (there were none) Set file explorer to "show icons only, never thumbnails" Disabled refresh cache for onesettings in task scheduler Reset all folder view options to defaults and then restarting Those are the only the ones i can remember off hand. I also tried using process monitor to see if anything might be causing it...but it eventually closed by itself after running for a few hours, presumably because it was logging too much stuff. And since the folder view reset happens randomly, i cannot check the log at a certain time anyway, because i have no idea what time to check the log at. I found an old post talking about what seems to be a similar issue : Windows 11 File Explorer jumps to top when scrolling - Microsoft Q&A, except that it jumps to the top when i am not using explorer. It never jumps to the top when i am actively using explorer. None of the solutions posted in the thread worked for me. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Its very obviously something related to win11 because it was not present in win10, but i cant narrow it down and windows wont tell me what is causing it. It just seems to be some kind of folder/UI refresh that keeps triggering but i cant tell what is triggering it, when it triggers or how to turn it off.EndFragment I tried using an alternative to file explorer, called the "Files" app, and i can confirm the "folder jumps to the top" bug does not happen there...so whatever is causing it, only affects win11's file explorer. I was able to find someone else who confirmed that this folder view reset bug happens for them as well on win11, but he did not know why it was happening either. His best guess was that the changes that win11 made to file explorer have introduced this bug.36Views0likes2CommentsThe best windows 11 media creation tool for unsupported PC?
We need to upgrade a dozen of computers at our office. And some of the PCs are not supported by Windows 11 according to the Microsoft official document. However, these computers are powered by high profile hardware, such as Intel i7 processor, 32GB RAM and powerful AMD graphics cards. As being told, we need to make a bootable USB first before Windows 11 gets installed. So which is the best Windows 11 media creation tool for unsupported PCs?115Views0likes8CommentsPossible to install windows 11 without microsoft account?
Hello tech community members, I'm new to Windows and want to install Windows 11 on a PC given by my dad, but I don't have a Microsoft account and I'm not planning to create one. I've heard that it's possible to bypass the Microsoft account requirement during the installation process, but I'm not sure how to do it. Could anyone provide a step-by-step guide or any tips on how to install Windows 11 without Microsoft account? Any help would be greatly appreciated! [Latest update] Please don't send private message any more as I don't have time replying one by one. If you had the same question, please follow this step-by-step-guide with screenshots to get it done. I already successfully installed Windows 11 on my PC without Microsoft account. You can also contact the support to send you the custom ISO to skip the Microsoft account requirement.791KViews4likes43CommentsHow Can I Install Windows 11 24H2 on Any Computer?
I am at a small company and there are dozens of PCs and laptops to be upgraded to Windows 11 per boss request. Unfortunately, some of the PCs meet the Windows 11 24H2 system requirements and some of them are not, because of unsupported CPU and lack of TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot. In addition, some of the hard disk are formatted by MBR but Windows 11 requires GPT. Is there a simple way to create a Windows 11 bootable USB and install Windows 1 24H2 on any computer, including the ones that not supported by Windows 11 24H2? Kindly let me know if this is possible. Thank you!Solved1.3KViews0likes7CommentsProgram Data folder admin permissions corrupted - Help please!
Hi, I'd appreciate some help form an expert! My folder permissions in 'C:\Program Data\Dell' folder have somehow been restricted to Authenticated Users (by a Dell Command Update failure or an unfortunate Dell Core Services uninstall), which now limits that Folder to 'Authenticated Users' - read and execute, read, and list folder contents, so software installs can't create new folders and write files. Within the Dell folder there are a number of folders that have full control (SYSTEM, Administrators permissions etc), but some that are ONLY 'Authenticated Users': D3, DTP.DataManager.SubAgent, DTP.Diagnostics. SubAgent, DTP.Instrumentation.SubAgent, ePSA, MyDell Notification Manger, orca, OS Recovery Tool. DTP (Dell Data Protection) main folder and Dell Vault are OK Dell are suggesting I reinstall the OS, but I have a huge number of apps installed and am trying to avoid that - everything else but Dell apps seems to be working. The machine is an XPS15 9520 laptop on Win11 Pro 24H2. I can create new folder 'Dell2' and copy all the folders across and they then have full permissions, but of course I can't copy those folders back into the original folder with corrected permissions... What would happen if I rename the C:\ProgramData \Dell folder to something else and then rename the Dell2 folder to 'Dell', and try again and see if SupportAssist or DCU installs correctly, or could that do more damage? I think some Dell security stuff is in the BIOS but some will be in registry so would that 'notice' the folder its looking for is not the original folder but a different one with the same name? Or is it better to install another user and give them admin privileges and have to login with a different ID for Dell software updates from now on? NB this machine is set up for LOCAL ACCOUNT with a password, WITHOUT a Microsoft account on the machine, though it does have O365 subscription... thanks so much!12Views0likes0CommentsWindows 11 Unsupported on I7-7700
Why doesn't Microsoft Support the intel Core i7-7700 Processor for Windows 11 (22H2), I was checking the PC Health Check App and It said that I met the Requirements for Everything Else, Except for the Processor. I have a TPM 2.0, but an Unsupported Processor. I found this quite ridiculous. No hate to Microsoft or anything like that but I feel like the I7-7700 would work just fine on Windows 11 (22H2), Because I upgraded on an Unsupported Processor and It was smooth as butter. then I went back to Windows 10 Because My Processor was Unsupported. If possible, could Microsoft make a change? What are your thoughts?61KViews2likes34CommentsWin11 file explorer keeps resetting to the top at random moments
