How to install Microsoft 365 Insider apps on Android

Notes:
  • Requires a device that is compatible with Google Play. See a list of supported Android devices on Google's support site.
  • Microsoft 365 Insider apps are available on Android without a subscription, but some features are available only to Microsoft 365 subscribers.
  • See the Microsoft 365 Insider Handbook and Insider FAQ to learn about the Microsoft 365 Insider program.

1. Choose an Insider level

Microsoft 365 Insider for Android is available in two levels: Beta Channel and Current Channel (Preview).

Beta Channel

Best for those who want to use the latest preview builds to identify issues and provide feedback about new features still in development, and don't mind the bit of risk involved in using unsupported builds. Available for Word, PowerPoint, and Excel apps.

Current Channel (Preview)

Best for fans or early adopters who want early access to preview builds, but also want to receive less frequent, more stable updates. Builds come out monthly and are fully supported. Available for Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, and Microsoft Lens PDF Scanner apps.

2. Install Insider apps

Current Channel (Preview)

  1. From your Android device, click the links below to install Microsoft 365 Insider builds:
  2. Click the Become a Tester button.
  3. Follow the instructions to download the apps from Google Play, if you haven't already.
  4. Once your membership has been approved, you will start receiving Current Channel (Preview) builds on your Android device.

Beta Channel (available for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint only)

After you've downloaded the Current Channel (Preview) build of Word, Excel, or PowerPoint (see instructions above), you can opt in to receive Beta Channel builds by joining the Beta WXP Android group. Once your membership is approved, you will start receiving Beta Channel builds on your Android device. Please note that approval can take several hours.
