Get data from an excel file in onedrive with power query

I used to download data from my excel files that are in one drive using the file URL and modifying  the embed to download.

https://onedrive.live.com/redir.aspx?cid=31XXX007X973ee6b&resid=3XXXXXC973EE6B!49999&parId=3XXXXXC973EE6B!46489&authkey=!ANrZXXXSdDCDJ0

Now the URL has changed to:

https://1drv.ms/t/c/3XXXXXC973ee6b/EWvuc8kHcMcggDE6wwXXXXXBSTsVubH5dQtJKs7ZY8tlZg?e=PdwXXk

and is useless to get data from web...

I need help for a work around.

thanks

My knowledge of Power Query is limited, but as far as I know, Microsoft changed the way OneDrive generates shareable links, and the new short URLs like https://1drv.ms/... are redirect URLs, not direct links to the file content. This breaks Power Query's ability to connect via “Get Data from Web”, since Power Query cannot follow these redirect-style or tokenized links to fetch the actual file.

To get Power Query to work, you need a direct download link to your file (a .xlsx or .csv), not a preview or redirect link.

This only works with public or "anyone with the link" shared files.

If you move or rename the file in OneDrive, the resid will change — so the link will break.

Excel for Web and Power Query can't access files via .ms short links or tokens like EWvuc8k....

If you're frequently working with these files, sync the OneDrive folder locally and use Power Query to connect to the local path — it's more stable and supports refresh.

My answers are voluntary and without guarantee!

    Hope this will help you.
