Office 2024 word issue: Some text after cursor deleted after save
Hi everyone, After upgrading from Office 2019 to Office 2024, I encountered a bizarre issue with Word: when saving a document, some text following the cursor would disappear. After some digging, I found that deleting the registry key at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Resiliency\DisabledItems resolved the issue for me. A few questions: - Has anyone else experienced a similar problem after upgrading? - Is removing this registry entry a recommended fix, or are there risks associated with it? - Could there be a more permanent solution or an upcoming update addressing this? I'm running Office 2024 LTSC. Any insights or similar experiences are appreciated!Percy1328May 25, 2025Copper Contributor7Views0likes1CommentColumns in Footnotes

It is possible to manually apply a new Word template via the following steps: Open the Word document you would like to apply the template to, then click File > Options to open the Word Options dialog box. In the Word Options dialog box, click Add-ins in the left bar, select Templates from the Manage drop down list, and click Go. A new dialog box should appear for Templates and Add-ins. Check the “Automatically update document” styles option and click the Attach button. A new dialog box should appear for Attach Template. In this new box, open the folder containing the new template to be applied, select the new template, and click the Open button. Click the OK button when it returns to the Templates and Add-ins dialog box. The specified Word template should now be applied to the existing Word document. Edit: To clarify the scenario - We have a large number of existing documents using an old template which specifies header, footer & styling etc. A new template has been created with updated styling and this needs to be applied to hundreds of existing documents. This is not viable to be done manually. Therefore the question - Is it possible to perform updating of a Word template programmatically?andgoo_May 23, 2025Copper Contributor4.2KViews0likes6CommentsCopying table into docx makes page numbering go haywire
Hello, So, context: I'm working on a doctoral thesis. I have a table, which was originally created in LaTeX, which I originally copied into my thesis as an image. The thesis office wasn't happy with it being an image, they wanted it as a text-form Word table. Long story short, through great and valiant effort, my advisor and I got it converted to a text-form Word table. Basically the last thing I have to do to get my thesis cleared is get this damned table pasted into my thesis. But when I attempted to do so, behold - it completely screwed up the page numbering of my entire thesis. It changed everything so that the following page became page 1, and the preceding pages no longer had page numbers. The table itself was a standalone file in the other docx - and I tried explicitly turning off all headers, footers, and page numbers in that file, to no avail when re-pasting. I accosted an agent on Microsoft support chat, who resolved the issue, and I should have just stopped him right there, but he kept messing with my document and messed up his own fix. He ultimately gave up and sent me here. I was really hoping to include file attachments to demonstrate the issue but this interface doesn't appear to allow it. If anyone could offer me a workaround for that, I would appreciate that as well. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer. Hi - I know this is a problem for many. Does anyone know how I can set my language in Word to UK English? Whatever I do it reverts to US English. I have been through dozens of possible solutions without success. Is there a way to delete US English on Word. Or is there a free programme I can use instead that works in UK English? Auto detect headings in my iOS Word document is now permanently grayed out. i says, “auto detect is off because it did not detect any headings“. However, I had created two new headings weeks ago using the same heading style as previously created headings and the new ones were not detected. I think the fix for the bug where auto detect was permanently ON has created this new problem? I would like to be able to have headings auto detected when I use the same style as previously created headings. This is how it always worked before AND I was able to toggle Detect Settings on and off to force heading detection.LBAMay 21, 2025Copper Contributor38Views0likes2Commentsmail merge select recipients got broken
This feature worked before with an office enterprise 2007, but it started behaving oddly some days ago. Option 1. type a new list throws error: Class not registered Option 2. use an existing list creates wrong file path by cutting the file name and appending file extension to the last folder. E.g.: the file to be used as data source in mail merge is C:\Users\me\folder1\folder2\data.xlsx, but the mail merge dialog box shows: C:\Users\me\folder1\folder2.xlsx In step by step mailmerge wizard, there is not option to select excel data source at step 3/6. I can select "Special" and then narrow down to Excel files, but no table data is shown after selecting any .xls(x) file. Most probably this freature has been broken since an office pro plus 2019 installation attempt (but i m not sure 100%). Is there a common office registry setting that blocks this feature and makes such weird behavior? Excel source file is healthy, it works perfectly on other PCs with mail merge.x315307May 21, 2025Copper Contributor41Views0likes2CommentsHow to insert a master foot note in many other word documents

I am working on a lengthy word document. I just used the "insert page number" function in an attempt to number the pages (more than 400). Only page 1 showed a page number (i.e., 1). Any suggestions as to what might be wrong and how I can solve this problem and have all pages numbered? Thanks, in advance.academusMay 17, 2025Copper Contributor49Views0likes2Comments
